The Regulation Identifier Number (RIN) is assigned by the Regulatory Information Service Center to identify each regulatory action listed in the Unified Agenda, as directed by E.O. 12866 (section 4(b)). Additionally, RINs are included in the headings of Rule and Proposed Rule documents published in the Federal Register. The RIN can be used to track the publication history of a regulatory action throughout its development.
