Everyone Who Wants the Government to Continue Functioning, Say "Aye"
by Gary Therkildsen*, 9/21/2009
National Journal (subscription required) is reporting today that the House plans on taking up stopgap legislation on Wednesday to continue funding the federal government after appropriations for the year run out on Sept. 30.

With the Senate having only passed five appropriations bills so far, the stopgap measure, which is expected to cover the month of October, will allow the upper house to pass its seven remaining spending bills and provide time for the House and Senate to sit down and hammer out any differences over final dollar numbers. The Senate is expected to take up the continuing resolution before Sept. 30.
