Ronald White: Director, Regulatory Policy
Ronald White joined the Center for Effective Government in August 2013 as its Director of Regulatory Policy. He oversees a team focused on advocating for commonsense standards and safeguards that are updated to conform to the most up-to-date scientific evidence, adopted in a timely manner, and broadly and effectively enforced. Ron's expertise focuses on the application of scientific information in the development and implementation of public health policy, with specific interests including air pollution policy, chemical and nanotechnology risks, and environmental justice.
Ron also serves as part-time faculty in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Previously, he served as Associate Scientist in the Department of Health Policy and Management, with joint appointments in the Departments of Environmental Health Sciences and Epidemiology, at Johns Hopkins, where he also served as Deputy Director for the Johns Hopkins Risk Sciences and Public Policy Institute.
Prior to joining the Johns Hopkins University faculty, Ron served as Assistant Executive Director, Education, Research, and Community Affairs at the National Osteoporosis Foundation and held numerous positions, culminating in Assistant Vice-President for National Policy at the National Office of the American Lung Association.
Ron has published numerous articles in the peer-reviewed literature and has contributed to book chapters, and he has presented at numerous scientific conferences and seminars.
Ron earned his Master of Science in Teaching degree in environmental studies from Antioch University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in environmental science from Clark University.
